Is the work mandatory?
Yes, doing the work and participating is mandatory starting April 13
How long do we have to do this?
We don't know. As of right now the plan is to return to school on May 1st BUT!!!!! our district follows the guidelines and recommendation of local health officials. They will tell when it is safe to return to school
What will my final semester grade be?
We are using your 3rd quarter grades as a baseline. Whatever you earned at 3rd quarter is your grade for Semester 2, UNLESS you improve it. It can NOT go down. It can go up based on your work that you do for the rest of the year
What if I like my grade from 3rd quarter and I don't want to improve it?
Right on!! - then the work during distant learning will be stress free for you. But you still have to do the work that is assigned
Why do I have to do my work if I like my current grade?
Doing the work and participating is how we take attendance. You really should be doing the work anyway, regardless of your grade because this information carries over into future classes you take.
Will attendance be taken?
YES - Everytime you participate in some way, I will mark "Present" in Aeries. You do NOT need to participate every single day. Absences will NOT be marked. Basically, if you do not have "Present" marked a few times a week, then that alerts administration/district that you are not participating therefore you are not "attending school". For my classes, participation can be just turning work in, responding on comments with questions, etc., joining in on zoom sessions, emailing/texting me with questions about work.
Why does it look like I'm missing work in Aeries?
All the work assigned after March 13th will be entered in Aeries. BUT I am not clicking "grading completed". What this means is if you are missing the assignment it does NOT go against your grade. I will only enter the grade if is improves your grade. I am keeping record if you did the work and your scores in the comments section of aeries.
Do I have to complete the work that was assigned during optional period?
Technically no BUT if you are trying to improve your grade, then it would be beneficial for you to do it. Also, the work that was assigned builds on future lessons.
